On your first visit, you will be greeted by a friendly, courteous staff that will take some basic medical information and guide you through our office. We use some of the latest technology to expedite this process and eliminate paper waste. Our Kiosk system ensures efficient and progressive record keeping throughout your treatment.
After measuring your vital signs, Dr. Abernathy will speak with you about your specific complaint and take a thorough medical history regarding your condition. Please bring any pertinent information such as MRI reports or X-rays.
You will be given a thorough orthopedic and neurological exam, which will allow the doctor to diagnose your condition. X-rays may be taken to help rule out aggravating factors with our on-site digital X-ray system. When needed, outside imaging and lab work may be ordered.
Report of Findings
The doctor will review your exam and X-ray findings with you. If your chiropractor feels chiropractic care will help your specific condition, then a treatment plan will be given. Most conditions respond within 8-10 treatments.
Your overall treatment is an interactive process involving both you and our entire staff. It will likely be a combination of regularly scheduled chiropractic adjustments performed by our physicians, possibly additional therapy treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, spinal decompression, intersegmental traction, massage, or hot/cold therapies. Lastly, lifestyle changes made on a temporary or permanent basis by you — with plenty of encouragement, education, and coaching from us. These can involve strengthening and stretching exercises, attention to your posture when sitting and lying down, and use of other health aids. We’ll be working together on your good health.
Re-evaluations are an integral part of your treatment at Lake Norman Chiropractic Center. They are performed at 2-4 week intervals to assess progress, and update the treatment plan. Our goal is to return you to a normal, active lifestyle as quickly as possible, and give you the tools to maintain it.
